Our U15 side welcomed Kilcar to Pairc Naomh Ultan yesterday evening, Monday, April 4th. Conditions were poor but that didnโt take from the game in the slightest as it was an entertaining affair throughout. Naomh Ultan started the brighter of the two teams, racing into a 2-2 to 0-1 lead with goals coming from Caolan Reynolds and Lewis Chapman. Kilcar did get two quick fire goals of their own midway through the half and ended up taking the lead after knocking over a couple of points without reply. The boys from Dunkineely did react well eventually, two more points from Reynolds and one from Brian Carey tightened the margain. Kilcar did take the wind out of Naomh Ultanโs sail when they added a third goal however a free sent over by Lewis Chapman made it a three point game and just moments before the half time break, up stepped Brian Carey to this time net the ball and make it a level game.
Half time: Naomh Ultan 3-7 Chill Chartha 3-7
It was Kilcar that came out of the blocks quicker after the interval, netting again from close range early on. They began to stretch out that lead as the half progressed, getting two more goals in the meantime however Naomh Ultan always had some kind of response. Caolan Reynolds got his second goal of the evening and they got a number of points coming from Dylan McHugh, Owen Cunningham & Brian Carey. Shaun McGuinness scored a great goal with less than 10 minutes remaining and that was soon followed by free scoring Reynolds getting his third goal and his sideโs sixth. This took the game right back to a one point match and a tense ending was in store. Kilcar did manage to get the ball up the field after working it out well, they finished that move off with another goal much to the dismay of Naomh Ultan having clawed themselves back into the game. They added two more points to put five between them then. Young Bobby McGuinness pointed as did Brian Carey to take it back to three, Naomh Ultan hunted the goal they required for the draw and had opportunities, but the Kilcar defence stayed resilient and saw out their win.
Full time: Naomh Ultan 6-12 Chill Chartha 7-12
