A fine performance on the road was awarded with a ten point victory over Naomh Muire last night in the Banks. Cian Kennedy pointed from play in the opening minute to which Naomh Muire almost immediately responded to with one of their own. Kennedy and Naomh Muire traded scores in that order again and it was Naomh Muire that pulled ahead on 6 minutes, pointing from play. Dermot Gallier picked one from distance and then came the crucial score of the game, Naomh Ultan got bodies forward and a rocket from corner back Ryan Rose pinged the top corner of the net to give them a three point lead. Kennedy and Alan Lyons rubbed salt in the wounds of Naomh Muire after conceding the goal, each pointing from play to put Naomh Ultan up 1-5 to 0-3 as ref Connie Doherty called for the first water break.
The game restarted in scrappy circumstances with no scores for the next five minutes, with each side having their chances. It was that way until up stepped Naomh Ultan wing back Mark Hutchinson to get the scoreboard moving again. It wasn't long till the board was moving more as a minute later Peter Alvey pointed. Naomh Ultan were resilient at the back forcing Naomh Muire into difficult positions for taking scores. They did have the ball in the Naomh Ultan net but it was deemed a foul when a fisted point fell short. Naomh Ultan now 1-7 to 0-3 up ended up finishing the half in the same fashion they played throughout the opening thirty minutes. Lyons pointed on 25 minutes to which James Byrne added another a minute later. Naomh Muire did get their forth of the day soon after but that was cancelled out by Peter Alvey who pointed from play to end the scoring in this half. Naomh Ultan 1-10 Naomh Muire 0-4
Naomh Ultan very much continued from where they left off in the second half, on 31 minutes Daragh Murrin set one sail over the bar. A minute later Cian Kennedy pointed and did so again two minutes after. Lyons then added to his tally on 35 minutes to really stomp out any Naomh Muire resurgence. Naomh Muire worked a score which proved to be their only of the quarter, Lyons then again pointed just as the second water break was called. Naomh Muire were pressing to get the scores they required to get back into this but as the Naomh Ultan defence did in the opening half they remained resilient. Naomh Muire did point on 49 minutes before substitute Aiden Duddy pulled out one of his trademark scores to open his account for the evening. Kennedy pointed on 26 minutes also to close his and Naomh Ultan's account for the evening, again Naomh Muire pressed and knocked over a couple of frees as the game drew out. Naomh Ultan worked hard and reaped the awards for doing so, a great result which puts promotion on their radar however still plenty of football to be played.
A quick turnaround for the team as they're out again this Bank Holiday Sunday, welcoming Robert Emmets to Pairc Naomh Ultan at 2pm.

Naomh Ultan vs Naomh Muire Reserve Match Report
It was Friday Night Lights for our reserves last night, they threw in at the rather unusual time of 9pm in the Banks. Their first outing since losing to Muff in June so they were glad to get out playing competitively again. They started the half well getting scores from Kyle Breslin, Dermot McGlynn and Adrain Nesbitt but Naomh Muire soon picked up the pace and showed why they are top of the division. Naomh Ultan did get two more in the opening half to take the sides in 0-8 to 0-5 at the half time interval.
Naomh Muire got the goal that would go on to win the game for them 10 minutes into the second half, putting too much between the two sides. Aiden Duddy, Nesbitt, Breslin and substitute Jonathan Bach all pointed in the second half but it wasn't enough to claw back into this one. Nonetheless a good runout for the reserve side again waiting so long to get playing. The reserve team are scheduled to play Robert Emmets on the Bank Holiday Sunday, if that game goes ahead throw-in is fixed for 3:30pm.
