Our seniors welcomed Pettigo to Pairc Naomh Ultan on Saturday, June 26th. Hoping to bounce back from a defeat last weekend they started well, a Daragh Murrin goal in the opening minute set the bar for Naomh Ultan. Cian Kennedy pointed a free two minutes later which was quickly followed by a second goal, coming from the boot of Mark Hutchinson after a well worked move. Pettigo opened their account in the seventh minute with a free in front of the posts. A Dermot Gallier free, two Alan Lyons points and another Kennedy point was Naomh Ultan's response, taking the game to 2-5 to 0-1 at the water break.
After the first break Pettigo got more into the game, converting two frees on the 19th & 22nd minute. James Byrne popped up on the 27th minute with Naomh Ultan's only point of the quarter. Half time - Naomh Ultan 2-7 Pettigo 0-3
Gallier pointed in the opening minute of the second half, to which Pettigo responded to. Byrne stepped up for his second point which was followed by 3 Cian Kennedy points from play. Substitutes Michael Breslin, Dermot McGlynn & Kyle Breslin accounted for 6 points in the closing quarter to top off a fine team performance for Naomh Ultan. Pettigo stuck in right until the end, finishing off with 3 more points. No fixture next weekend for our Seniors, they wait a fortnight now to play Robert Emmets in Pairc Naomh Ultan.
